Planning Your Wedding Flowers

What To Have Prepared Before Your Design Meeting

Planning your wedding is exciting!! And we want you to enjoy every moment of the planning process. I remember planning my wedding and feeling so excited over all the little details - but most importantly, I loved spending that time with my fiance, just getting excited and planning our life together!! However, I also know how crazy and busy the wedding planning process is; it’s a lot to handle! That’s why we’re here to help.

As your wedding florist, we want you to have the wedding of your dreams, and that requires an in-depth planning meeting to discuss your wedding design ideas, goals, and budget. To ensure the process is as smooth as possible, I have narrowed down 5 key things you should have decided before meeting with your wedding florist. We will never say no to meeting with you if you haven’t established all of these elements. Sometimes, clients need a little guidance on where to go! These are just five things that make the process go even smoother.

The Floral Planning Process

When you book with Beautiful Things Floral & Design you will be guided through the planning process for your wedding floral design with ease. We just have a few recommendations to help ensure you have the best experience possible!

When planning your wedding florals we prefer our client's book as soon as possible - if you can, try and book us 9 - 12 months before your wedding! Not only do our books fill up quickly but there’s a lot of planning to do and we don’t ever want to make our clients feel rushed. Even if you contact us 6 months before your wedding things can get a little chaotic. However, regardless of when you book with us know that your wedding floral design will be planned to perfection with immense attention to detail!

Before we begin your planning meeting we will ask you to fill out a few questions so we can get to know you, your wedding goals and vision, and your budget. It is SO important that you fill out this questionnaire as honestly and accurately as possible. We never want to set our clients up for failed expectations and there can be tough conversations that revolve around budgets. Discuss your floral budget ahead of time and our team will come to you with your vision mapped out within your budget. Let’s discuss what else is important to have determined prior to the meeting for your floral design planning session.

5 Things To Have Before Your Meeting

There are 5 key elements we like our clients to have established before we meet for a floral design planning session. It’s by no means required but having these things determined makes the session go so much smoother!

Know Where You’re Getting Married

Regardless of where you’re at in your wedding planning process, you should ALWAYS select your wedding venue FIRST. As a wedding florist, we love when you reach out to us and are interested in booking us for your big day. However, we would hate for you to book us first and then have scheduling conflicts with your venue. We’ve worked with many venues in Nashville and have fantastic connections with them, but unfortunately, if we’re booked on the available dates they have for your day we won’t be able to bring your day to life. So come to us once your venue has been confirmed, and then we can start talking about allllll the pretty details.

Share Your Pinterest Board & Inspo Photos With Us!

Admit it, you’ve got that Pinterest board started… WE LOVE IT!! Send us alllll the inspo pics and we’ll be prepared at your planning meeting with floral design ideas that fit within your budget and the inspo you love (follow us on Pinterest for all the inspo!!) We love seeing what draws your attention and often use inspirational photos to reference the design on your wedding day! So go ahead, and send us a link, we can’t wait to see your style!

Know Your Maximum Guest Count Possible

We know this can be a tricky question and understand that you won’t have your final guest count until a few weeks before the big day - that’s okay!! We want your highest guest count estimate so we can accurately discuss your budget, what’s possible, and how much you’ll need/want. Don’t stress though, we won’t hold you to this initial guest count! We will always drop your count if needed but adding more guests means more guest tables, and that means more $$. We want to give you the most accurate quote possible, so go ahead and aim high! We can always drop it down closer to the big day.

Determine Your Wedding Floral Budget - Be Honest!

We know, money is the tricky conversation here. However, it’s important to establish what you’re comfortable with spending on your wedding flowers prior to your meeting with us. We encourage you to come to us with an open mind on your budget but understand there are maximum amounts couples are comfortable with spending - and we want to respect that! We want to show you exactly what you can get for your budget - full transparency here! So be honest, tell us what you’re comfortable spending and we will be open with you during your planning meeting about what is or isn’t possible with that budget. We will always do our best to work with you and get you the best prices possible but having a general guideline of the price range is sooo helpful!

Bring Your Positive Energy!!!

We know you’re nervous but there’s no need to be! We have your back and want nothing more than for you to have the wedding of your dreams. Come to your wedding floral design planning meeting with the excitement you felt the day you said yes! We’re just as excited as you are and this is such a fun planning meeting! Remember, we’re on your team and are going to do everything we can to make your wedding day everything you’ve dreamed of and SO much more.

Come Prepared, Your Florist Will Thank You!

There are a lot of emotions, opinions, and commotion that revolve around planning a wedding. That’s why these things are so important to have established prior to meeting with your wedding florist! If you haven’t selected your wedding venue yet we can’t accurately plan for your day because there may be policies and restrictions in place we are unaware of. Many new venues are popping up here in Nashville with guidelines we’re unaware of and unfamiliar with! We would hate to have to switch things up last minute! Plus, if you don’t have your venue selected, we can’t guarantee our availability for your chosen date.

Another important reason why you should have these elements established is that they help with the overall planning process and initial quoted estimate. If we don’t have your estimated guest count or venue we can’t accurately quote you for the reception centerpieces. It is SO important to let us know the maximum number of guests you anticipate so we can quote out the centerpieces needed for each table - make sure you check with your venue on how many guest tables you will need as different venues have different limits.

Planning your wedding day flowers should be fun, and we want you to trust us and know that we’ve got everything under control! We schedule planning meetings ahead of time to ensure that we can place orders in time for your day - whether we’re importing specific flowers from Holland or ordering specialty vases for your reception tables, having these design elements established in advance is necessary.

Unfortunately, we can’t always accommodate last-minute changes - though we will always do our best! Trust that your initial decisions for your wedding day design are going to be beautiful. Big last-minute changes can result in additional fees that we don't want to charge you and know you don’t want to pay, so let’s work together to establish a floral design you love and are confident in a few months before the big day!
