Ashley and Adam's place in my heart and the heart of Beautiful Things is forever cherished. Their wedding planning journey had hit a few bumps when they approached us. Determined to alleviate stress for the couple and their families, we embarked on a mission to turn their experience into an exciting, joyful, and dreamlike adventure. Our utmost desire is to transform wedding planning into an unforgettable memory.

From the outset of our collaboration, Ashley and her mother radiated a newfound enthusiasm after our first meeting. Our partnership with Ashley and Adam was a stroke of luck. While Ashley initially admitted uncertainty about her vision, a little exploration unveiled a wealth of hidden desires. Collaborating closely, we meticulously designed a ceremony that was nothing short of breathtaking.

Ashley and Adam's choice of a simple color scheme – predominantly whites and greens with delicate hints of blue – spoke volumes about their love story. “We were just friends. At some point, that changed”

I love hearing my client's love stories. They fill my heart with so much joy and remind me of how precious true love is - I think fondly back to my love story with my hubby and get giddy every time hearing how others find true love! I asked Ashley to tell me her love story, which did not disappoint!

Ashley and Adam’s Love Story

“Oh my gosh, our love story is one of my favorites! We met in a nutrition class at UT Knoxville in August of 2017. It was Adam’s first week there and my second year; I was so happy to be back at school and excited to start my classes. I had NO idea I’d end up also starting the greatest love story of my life. Adam came up to me in the hallway before our class, I was sitting across the hall from the room, and he asked if that’s where the nutrition class was. I said yes and watched him walk into the room, not thinking much of it. A few minutes later, I headed for class behind a crowd of students.”

“I noticed Adam had sat in the front row, literally right in front of the teacher’s podium, and for whatever reason, he felt inclined to sit right there next to him. This was SO unlike me! I’m not one to sit next to strangers, let alone in the front row of a class! But, sure enough, we sat together every Wednesday for the rest of the semester. Soon that turned into us hanging out every so often, and we stayed friends for the rest of the school year -but we agreed we were JUST friends… (spoiler alert, that changed!! haha).”

At some point, that changed, and by May of 2018, we agreed there was more to our relationship, and he asked me to be his girlfriend! We finished and graduated college in May of 2020 and moved up to Nashville in August 2020. By June 2022, he asked me to marry him, and I’ve just been so in love with every moment of our relationship since that very first day in nutrition class!” - Ashley

Planning an outdoor wedding in Tennessee can be tricky; the weather is unpredictable, often leading to a few hiccups here and there. On Ashley and Adam’s wedding day, it was WINDY. But we powered through. Luckily, their wedding took place at Diamond Creek Farm, which has indoor and outdoor options. Guests enjoyed the ceremony and cocktail hour outdoors before heading inside for an evening of dancing. But not all wedding venues in Nashville have indoor and outdoor options. In fact, some of our absolute favorites are entirely outdoor! Here are a few tips for planning an outdoor wedding in Tennessee.

Tips For Planning An Outdoor Wedding

Ask your wedding venue what time of year THEY recommend. What time of year is best for their wedding venue specifically?
Prepare your guests ahead of time. On your wedding website, note that it is an entirely outdoor wedding venue, and guests should dress accordingly.
Rent heaters or fans to help regulate temperature imperfections.
Select LOW centerpieces and items that are less likely to blow over in the wind.
Ask your wedding florist how they plan to manage any potential wind, rain, or challenging temperatures to ensure your flower stays fresh.
Wear proper shoes! Stilettos may not be the best idea if your ceremony requires walking down the grass.
Provide bug spray and sunscreen for guests if you’re getting married in the spring and summer months.
Inform your vendors that your wedding venue will be outdoors - especially your photographer!
DO NOT LOOK AT THE WEATHER UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE!! (Trust us on this one, in Nashville specifically, the weather changes daily, so if rain is predicted the week before the odds are it will have changed by your wedding day!!
